Culture and Diversity

My clients are a good representation of the cultural diversity in the SF Bay Area, where I live and work.  Sometimes culture is visible, but often it is much more complex and is visible and invisible.

Every single day, I see how cultural issues challenge not just immigrants (new or old), minorities, or mix-racial families but ALL OF US regardless of our own race or ethnicity as an individual.  Maybe you or your parents are immigrants or minority, or your partner is, or your boss, a core team member or employees are, or your child's partner or best friend is, or cultural issues matter to you in some other ways.

My experience as an immigrant, having lived and worked in different cultures and places of the world, and my career development in and transition through multiple professional careers, all together, have cultivated my capacity for compassion, empathy and curiosity.  My own mixed race family have both challenged and enriched the life of each of our family members deeply.

I genuinely seek to understand each individual, couple and family from multiple lens including family history, socioeconomic background, education, race and ethnicity, culture, gender identity and assumptions, and phase of life.

Always learning.

Always be curious.

I offer sessions in Mandarin if that’s your preferred language of care and self-expression.
